Ascendent announces conferencing integration with Microsoft's New Integrated Communications Client, Microsoft Office Communicator 2005
San Jose, Calif. — March 8, 2005 — Ascendent Systems, a leading developer of advanced voice and messaging solutions, today announced that it is working with Microsoft Corp. to deliver real-time collaboration solutions supporting Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005, an enterprise-grade instant messaging and presence awareness platform, that will empower customers to connect and share information in real time regardless of location.
The development effort will use the advanced mobility technology inherent in the Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite, with the presence awareness and instant messaging capabilities of Live Communications Server, empowering enterprise businesses to instantly assemble teams, make decisions and impact business operations in a matter of seconds regardless of network, location or device.
“Conferencing is an essential application that impacts virtually every employee, and most often the company’s top executives and mobile personnel. Customers choose Ascendent technology for the freedom to collaborate across best-of-breed communication devices and networks” said Mark Hicks, Ascendent vice president of business development. “By integrating Ascendent’s converged wireless-wireline technology with Microsoft Office Communicator 2005, users will have the power of real-time conferencing, providing a substantial productivity gain and the assurance of immediate communications regardless of location, device or situation.”
Powered by the Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite, these collaboration solutions will combine Microsoft s enterprise IM, presence, and computer-based telephony applications with Ascendent’s advanced conferencing applications, which seamlessly extend to legacy PBX, cellular, VoIP and PSTN devices. By merging real-time computer communications with real-time voice communications, users will enjoy advanced conferencing solutions, like “Get-Me” conferencing that enable enterprise customers to immediately collaborate without dialing a single digit.
“We are excited about Ascendent’s initiatives in developing real-time collaboration solutions that extend and enhance Live Communications Server and the new Microsoft Office Communicator,” said Taylor Collyer, senior director for product management, Real-Time Collaboration Business Unit at Microsoft. “These real-time solutions will enable customers to become more productive and effective in the workplace, leading to better business results.”
